What a year 2020 has been! It has been a whirlwind in so many ways, but has also shown me what is important in life. From a business perspective, there are certain things I do every year that I thought I’d share with you, to make sure you get 2021 off on the right foot.

1. Review Your Goals

Let’s be honest. You should be reviewing your goals on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis. At the end of the calendar year, you should sit down and evaluate if you have achieved what you set out to achieve. Goals are great. Evaluating your goals and performance indicators is what will make you successful.

2. Appreciate Your Employees

If you have not yet shown your employees appreciation for all they have done in 2020, now is the time. You wouldn’t be where you are without your team. Make sure you appreciate them appropriately. This is one simple way to keep good team members around.

3. Clean Up Your Digital Files

Whether that is photos on your phone or documents on your computer, the clutter of digital files takes up headspace. Delete unwanted documents. Put files in a place where you can find them easily. Go through your email. Delete old emails. Get rid of all the digital clutter that you can.

4. Evaluate Your Processes and What You Focused On in 2020

This is the time to look at what you have done, processes you have in place, where you have placed your focus. If those things don’t lead you to fulfill their intended purpose, get rid of it. If it doesn’t serve you and your goals, then stop doing it. We often start something and continue doing it because “that is how we have always done it.” Enough with that nonsense.

Cheers to leaving 2020 behind and focusing on the good that is to come in 2021!
